Miguel Torres vs. Takeya Mizugaki at WEC 40
Mizugaki was a late replacement for Brian Bowles and he did not disappoint. A surprisingly game opponent was the toughest fight thus far for Torres. This two battled it out for five rounds in what was an epic clash. This has fight of the year written all over it. By the way, the WEC seems to be putting on great shows.
Marcus Davis vs. Chris Lytle at UFC 93
These two guys had a gentleman’s agreement to stay standing. The two knew that their styles would make for an epic clash and they did. The two banged it out for three rounds. I’d like to see the re-match. In the end Davis eeked out a split decision victory over Lytle.
Jamie Varner vs. Donald Cerrone at WEC 38
This fight would be number one if it did not end with a knee to a downed opponent. Cerrone was losing the fight, but the two guys were at war. They slugged it out. I cannot wait for this re-match, probably in September.
Scott Smith vs. Benji Radach at Strikeforce: Shamrock vs. Diaz
This makes the list because Smith came from behind and KO’d Radach after being beat up for two rounds. Smith seems to be a constant in these fight of the year lists.
