TUF 10 Preview: Marcus Jones

marcusjonesName: Marcus Jones
Nickname: Darkness
Record:4-1
TUF 10 Prediction: Quarter Finalist

Jones is a former NFL player and first round draft pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaners in 1996 out of the University of North Carolina. Jones had a seven year NFL career and now he also making the transition to mixed martial arts. Having played Defensive end in football it is expected that he will know how to utilize takedowns and will have a lot of power. The 6’6″ 265 pound mixed martial artists will also have good size to help him. It seems that SPIKE TV has really showcased Jones, perhaps because of his name recognition as a former pro football player, but there is some speculation that it may have to do with his success on the show. Jones is 36 years old which would be a little bit old for someone just starting his mixed martial arts career and he will be in there against much younger guys. Jones appears to have good training out of Gracie Tampa with Rob Kahn and should have well-rounded skills. With all those things considered I believe that Jones will win a fight on the show, but it will be tough for him to move into the semi-finals with the level of talent on this particular cast. I also believe that we will see Jones earn a few UFC fights as a result of his stint in the Ultimate Fighter house. Keep watch on him as he could be an underdog and he will most likely get a lot of camera time.
