It looks like Anderson Silva’s next fight will be a middleweight title defense against “The Phenom” Vitor Belfort. Many people wondered who Silva would fight next. Well all the speculation is settled.
Silva will make his next title defense against Vitor Belfort. Silva impressed in his last outing with a dominant win over Forrest Griffin at UFC 101. It was reported recently that Silva was going to have elbow surgery that would sideline him until January. It is unknown if that surgery is still a possibility. Silva will have his greatest test to date inside the UFC.
Vitor Belfort is one of the UFC greats. He burst onto the scenes at age 19 and impressed fans with his quick hands and powerful striking. Belfort won the light heavyweight title, but then left the UFC to fight overseas. Belfort made his UFC return at UFC 103 against former middleweight champ Rich Franklin. Belfort KO’d Franklin within 1 round. Fans will look to see Belfort use that hand speed against Silva, who will not be able to do to Belfort what he did to Forrest Griffin.
UFC 108 will be a huge show and will take place January 2nd in Las Vegas. This event is also rumored to hold a light heavyweight clash between Rashad Evans and Thiago Silva, which could have title implications.
