News has surfaced that the UFC is doing a bit of re-shuffling of welterweight bouts. It now appears that welterweight Mike Swick will be added to the UFC 105 card in Manchester, England to take on Dan Hardy. The rumored bout would be a number one contender fight.
Dan Hardy confirmed the bout with SunSport:
Sometimes an opportunity presents itself and you have to jump at it. Swick is a tough fight for anyone in the division — that’s what makes this fight so exciting. I’m the underdog again, which is what I prefer. I get the chance to step up again, put a beating on a ranked and respected fighter and prove the doubters wrong — for a fourth time.I’m going to keep tearing up the division, all the way to the belt.
Dana White also confirmed the bout with AOL Fanhouse. While it appears that the fight will take place there is no confirmation as to which event would host the fight though UFC 105 seems like a logical choice. Also, there is no word on whether Dong Hyun Kim will have a replacement. I might suggest Josh Koscheck.
Mike “Quick” Swick was originally slated to compete in a number one contender fight with Martin Kampmann at UFC 103, but a slight injury suffered in training forced him out. His replacement, UFC newcomer Paul Daley subsequently KO’d Kampmann. Swick is recovered and ready to fight again soon.
Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy has looked good inside the UFC by nothing wins over Akihiro Gono, Rory Markham and Marcus Davis. This should make for an exciting bout.
