WEC Consistently Puts on Good Shows

weclogoA tip of the hat to WEC matchmaker Sean Selby and to WEC president Reed Harris. I do not have any ideas what type of numbers WEC 43 pulled in, but I have to say that I enjoyed the fights. I would assume that the event received poor ratings, but it did not lack quality fights.

I have been so impressed with the fights in the WEC. Saturday just proved that they consistently put on good fights. The Cerrone vs. Henderson fight was a legit fight of the year candidate. The Crunkilton vs. Jansen fight was action packed. I thought the Assuncao vs. Jabouin fight was great and is not getting the attention it deserves. Damacio Page is always entertaining. From top to bottom one of the best fight card as far as quality fights.

The reality is that WEC 43 and the Cerrone vs. Henderson fight is not the exception, but apparently the rule. Look back at the WEC fights this year that are viewed as fight of the year worthy: Mike Brown vs. Urijah Faber 2 at WEC 41, Miguel Torres vs. Takeya Mizugaki at WEC 40, and Jamie Varner vs. Donald Cerrone at WEC 38.

The WEC also has star power and fighters that always perform. They have guys like Faber, Torres, Brown and Bowles. Not to mention guys like Assuncao, Cerrone, Henderson, Varner, Roller, Crunkilton, Fabiano, Page, Garcia, Cruz, Mizugaki, and the list goes on.

I doubt that the WEC will fold into the UFC anytime soon, but the UFC sure would benefit from it. The WEC guys bring it every time. I believe the WEC might be the most consistent promotion as far as putting on solid and entertaining fights.
