The UFC has confirmed the February 6th UFC 109 event, which will be called “Relentless”. The card will feature a match-up of UFC Hall of Famers Randy Couture and Mark Coleman. The bout will be contested at light heavyweight (205 lbs). Couture is looking to make one last run at a title. Coleman is coming off an injury that forced him out of his UFC 106 bout with Tito Ortiz. The two will have a combined age of 100 years of age when they step into the octagon.
The UFC also confirmed today that the event would play host to several other significant fights. Most notably, a light heavyweight bout between Brandon Vera and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. This bout was mentioned previously on several outlets, but it was thought Nogueira did not want to face Vera because they two share a gym in California at times. It looks like it is on. A win for Little Nog’ could merit a title shot. Vera will look to rebound from a tough and controversial loss to Couture at UFC 105
Also it was confirmed that the re-match between Josh Koscheck and Paul Thiago will take place. Koscheck looks to avenge his loss to Thiago and earn a title shot himself.
Look also to see top middleweight contender Nathan Marquardt taking on Chael Sonnen and not Vitor Belfort. This event also has serious title implications. Sonnen is coming off of a huge and impressive win over Yushin Okami. Meanwhile, Marquardt is coming off a impressive win over Demian Maia.
Also, welterweights Matt Serrra and Frank Trigg will collide at the event.
