Jon Madsen Replaces Al Turk Against Rolles Gracie

It was reported by several outlets that Mostapha Al Turk was having visa problems ahead of his UFC 109 bout with UFC newcomer Rolles Gracie on Saturday. It appears that those problems have forced Al Turk to withdraw from his upcoming fight. Al Turk will be replaced by Jon Madsen according to Around the Octagon.

Jon Madsen appeared on the The Ultimate Fighter 10: Heavyweights. He won his first fight in impressive fashion against Abe Wagner via vicious ground and pound. Following that win he lost to eventual runner-up Brendan Schaub. Madsen did enough in the show to earn a fight at the show’s finale where he eeked out a victory over Justin Wren. Madsen was then signed to a UFC contract.

Madsen, who was a National Champion wrestler at South Dakota State University has a decided wrestling advantage against most opponents, but it is unlikely that Madsen will want to take the fight to the ground against Rolles Gracie.  The HIT squad member will certainly have his hands full against a highly ranked heavyweight prospect.
