Diego Sanchez will look to rebound from a loss to B.J. Penn in December and to re-establish himself in the UFC welterweight division. Sanchez made a run at the lightweight title, but was dominated by champion B.J. Penn, how he has decided to move back up a weight class. Diego confirmed the fight via a Twitter post yesterday.
Sanchez fared very well as a welterweight with his only losses coming to John Fitch and Josh Koscheck. John Hathway is the one who will welcome Diego back to the welterweight division. Hathaway boasts a 12-0 career record and a 3-0 record inside the UFC. “The Hitman” has looked very impressive inside the octagon, but he will geta big step up in competition when he faces Diego Sanchez.
The bout has not been confirmed by UFC officials yet. UFC 114 is expected to take place on May 29th in Las Vesgas, NV and to be headlined by a grudge match between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Rashad Evans.
