MMA Fighting is reporting that the UFC has signed French striker Cyrille Diabate to a multi-fight contract. Furthermore, Diabate will make his UFC debut against Luis Can at UFC 114. Diabate is a solid addition to the UFC roster.
Diabate has won his last five fights in MMA. The muay thai practitioner is a very skilled striker that has fought many tough guys including UFC number one contender Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. “The Snake” made an appearance as Dan Henderson’s striking coach on the Ultimate Fighter season 9. MMA Planet learned months ago that Diabate was looking to break into the UFC. With a few more wins under his belt his time has come.
Diabate’s debut will not be easy as he will be set to face Brazilian Luis Cane. Cane is widely considered a top 10-15 type fighter. He has looked very impressive inside the UFC. Cane’s last fight was a knockout loss to the debuting Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Cane, the American Top Team trained fighter will look to bounce back against Diabate. This should be an impressive display of striking.
UFC 114 is set to take place May 29th in Las Vegas. The show is expected to be headlined by a grudge match between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Rashad Evans. Click on the “Upcoming Events” tab for the complete fight card.
