TUF 11 Fighter Preview: Jordan Smith

Name: Jordan Smith
Record: 10-0
Age: 24
Trains: Throwdown Elite Fight Team – Utah

Jordan Smith is in many places viewed a top middleweight prospects.  Several places I looked at MMA prospects had Smith as one of the top up and coming middleweights.  His impressive 10-0 record would seem to justify that.  While Smith trains primarily in Utah, he also trains some with the Blackhouse gym in Los Angeles with the likes of the Nogueira brothers, Anderson Silva, Lyoto Machida and Junior Dos Santos.

Some rumors began to buzz that Smith got beat in the show’s elimination round.  He posted something on Facebook about being “knocked out for the first time”.  However, the message was deleted and he has not been active on Facebook since.

Smith is one of the 16 best fighters on the cast and should make it in the house, but matchups will be key.  I really believe Smith could be a solid prospect and if the rumors of him losing are false he is one to keep your eye on. I don’t think Smith will win the show, but I think he has the talent to have a UFC career.

Looking at Jordan’s record it looks as though he has a good submission game and should have the skills to compete.  We’ll see how he is match up in the house.

Prediction: In the TUF house, but loses in first round.

  1. It sucks that Smitty got out in the first round. Oh, well, he’ll go undefeated next season!!!!!

  2. Bruce Ellis says:

I see Jordan weight listed any where from 185 to 204. How much does he weight now?

    • Jason says:

Jordan is fighting 185 I believe, but he also was a 205 lb prospect. Jordan just notched a win over Gustavo Machado on May 15.

He is still a good prospect, but really hurt his chance with the UFC by losing in the eliminations on TUF. It will take him a while to get back on the big promotion radar. Strikeforce or Bellator or good possibilities for him.
