There haven’t been much changes the in the heavyweight division. However, the story is the divisions inactivity among their top fighters. Cain Velasquez has a shoulder injury which will sideline him for up to a year. Brock Lesnar’s desire to fight is in question following his loss to Velasquez. Fedor appears to be ready to fight in february, but he has been stuck in negotiations with Strikeforce and hasn’t fought since his lsos to Werdum. Overeem did fight at the DREAM New Year’s event, but he seems more committed to K-1 right now. Roy Nelson is stuck in a contract dispute. Shane Carwin is recovering from surgery. ben Rothwell has been sidelined with an injury. Cheick Kongo has been out for a while.

Only 13 of the top 25 heavyweights are in the UFC. 8 are with Strikeforce.3 of the top 25 are free agents (Aleks Emelianenko, Tim Sylvia, & Gonzaga), and one fights for Bellator (Konrad).

Travis Browne, Pedro Rizzo and Matt Mitrione are on the edge of our rankings.
