The world featherweight rankings were shaken up following recent events in DREAM, Sengoku and UFC as top ten fighters Marlon Sandro, Bibiano Fernandes, Masanori Kanehara, Mike Brown and Josh Grispi all took losses.

It was widely regarded that Fernandes and Sandro were the best non-UFC featherweights, now it appears that honor goes to Hatsu Hioki.

Meanwhile, Josh Grispi who was viewed as the world’s #2 featherweight got demolished by Dustin Poirer at UFC 125. Grispi was slated to fave Jose Aldo at the event, but an injury to Aldo forced him off the card.

There now seems to be an unclear number one contender to the UFC featherweight title. Only a few fighters come to mind. Perhaps Mark Hominick could be in line if he wins his upcoming fight against George Roop. Perhaps Chad Mendes is next in line if he gets past Michihro Omigawa at UFC 126. We could even see the possibility of Omigawa getting the shot with a victory over Mendes.
