When people think about top mixed martial arts trainers and training camps perhaps they think about Greg Jackson at Jackson’s Submission Fighting, Randy Couture’s Xtreme Couture, or Team Quest in Oregon. However, I believe that one of the best camps in the world in a solid midwestern camp that does not get the attention it deserves.
Duke Roufus is the head trainer at Roufusport. Duke has been around the sport of MMA for a long time. Furthermore, he has been involved with combat sports his entire life. He is a former professional kickboxer and a 4X kickboxing world champion fighter himself. He is now using his cast knowledge to train MMA fighters. His gym is full of up and comers. He is the trainer of guys like WEC lightweight champion Anthony “Showtime” Pettis, Pat Barry, Matt Mitrione, Alan Belcher, up and coming featherweight Erik Koch and UFC lightweight Danny Downes.
Roufus has a wealth of experience in MMA. He has trained guys like Jens Pulver, Ben Rothwell and Stephan Bonnar. 2010 was quite a successful year for Roufusport and 2011 looks to be even more successful. Anthony Pettis could get a title shot if he defeats Clay Guida in June. Alan Belcher is recovered from an eye injury and ready to climb back up the UFC middleweight ladder. Erik Koch is going to be a name you will hear in 2011.
Roufus is producing some of the best strikers in the sport who also put on the most exciting fights. When fans and media talk about the best camps in the country you have to mention Roufusport in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
